Who says you need to stop learning once summer rolls around?

Without question, getting outside and enjoying nature is what summer is about. So as we patiently wait through the rainy June days standing between us and our summer adventures, why not take a few moments to learn about invasive species that you will run into this summer.

Learning about the invasive plants and animals in the Sea to Sky region is the perfect way to adventure responsibly this summer. Let’s do our part to protect the natural areas where we live, camp and play in all summer long!

Before you start inflating your SUP for the season, take the quick Aquatic Invasives 101 course to prepare yourself for enjoying lakes and rivers in the Sea to Sky region responsibly this summer.

All you need is 30 minutes to learn about 9 different aquatic invasives – how to identify them, their impacts and current distribution in the Sea to Sky and how you can protect our community from further spread.

The best part is, this course is completely free, online, and family friendly!

The SSISC Invasive Species for Realtors and Land Developers course is right for you!

You can probably bear witness to how invasive plants and animals can cause substantial damage to properties and infrastructure. But what you may not know is, that in British Columbia, land occupiers are mandated by law to control noxious species that occur on their property.

But do not fret, SSISC has created an Invasive Species for Realtors and Land Developers Course to help you navigate through identifying and managing common invasive plants on your property.

Designed to fit into your busy schedule this summer, this free online course only takes 15-20 minutes to complete!

  • Download iNaturalist on your smartphone and use it to identify invasive and native plants you notice on your hikes or paddles this summer
