Pique Newsmagazine recently reported that SSISC had secured a two-year grant worth $116,000 from the Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development as part of a province-wide effort to manage the spread of invasive plants across the province.
“Our government is committed to containing or eradicating harmful invasive plants that adversely affect both rural and urban communities”, reported minister Doug Donaldson in a press conference quoted in Pique Newsmagazine.
The grant will allow SSISC to plan its programs strategically to work towards control and monitoring of invasive species and public education work.
