Banish Burdock in Whistler
You’re invited to an exciting volunteer opportunity to help remove invasive burdock in Whistler.
Join us on August 5th in Whistler Village. SSISC is collaborating with the Whistler Patagonia store to host a Banish Burdock community event. Help protect nature by joining us for an invasive plant removal!

- WHEN: Tuesday, August 5th, 2025, at 6:00 – 7:30 pm
- WHERE: Meet at the Fitzsimmons Nature Trailhead, Whistler Village (Along the valley trail here). We will work on removing burdock growing along the valley trail that parallels Lorimer Road.
- WHAT: Hands-on work digging out burdock plants, a chance to meet other volunteers, plus light refreshments at the Whistler Patagonia store afterwards.
- WHO: Everyone! Please bring your friends and family along


FAQ’s
- WHAT TO BRING: If you have shovels, a pair of work gloves and a high-visibility vests, please bring them along; otherwise, not to worry! We’ll have plenty of tools to go around. Please bring water and dress for the weather!
- IS THIS KID FRIENDLY? Absolutely! Children who are accompanied by an adult are welcome to join.
- CAN I BRING MY DOG? Sure, as long as you are a responsible dog owner! Note that dogs must be leashed along the valley trail.
- DON’T KNOW LOCAL PLANTS? Not a problem! We’ll teach you everything you need to know, and you’ll come away with neat new local knowledge.
