Do you have plans on Sunday, September 28th?
We’re partnering with the District of Squamish to host an invasive plant weed pull and restoration event in McNaughton Park, in Squamish! Celebrate BC Rivers Day with us by giving back to nature!

Event Details:
Who: Everyone is invited – families welcome!
When: Sunday, September 28th, 1 – 4 pm
Where: We’ll be working at McNaughton Park, in Squamish. Meet near the end of Maple Drive.
RSVP: Please mark yourself as going on our Facebook event page.
What to expect:
We’ll begin by removing invasive species, including yellow lamium, English holly, butterfly bush, and common burdock. These species threaten local biodiversity by outcompeting native plants, but with your help, we can make a difference!
No experience is necessary—we’ll provide guidance on plant identification and removal techniques.
Following the weed pull, we’ll focus on restoration. We’ll mulch the areas where we removed lamium and butterfly bush to prevent these species from growing back. We will also be replanting native species in areas of bare soil along the Little Stawamus River.
What to bring:
- Water bottle
- Gardening gloves (if you have them – otherwise we have some you can borrow!)
- Weather-appropriate clothing and footwear
- We will supply shovels and other tools.
Prizes:
To say thank you to our volunteers, we’ll be giving away some day passes from the Ground Up Climbing Centre. Everyone who joins the event will have a chance to win—so swing by, lend a hand, and you might head home with a day pass to try out climbing!
