How the Sausage Gets Made: An Insider’s Look into Decision-Making at SSISC
If you are reading our blog (thank you!), you probably have a good idea of what SSISC does… but do you know how SSISC decides what to do?

Here’s your chance at an in-depth look into how plant management decisions get made!

It comes as no surprise that SSISC carries out invasive plant control for various land managers across the region. Whilst we work closely with individual land managers to develop jurisdiction-specific workplans and site lists, we are guided by a coordinated plan to manage species at a regional scale, considering all jurisdictions.

This plan is informed by the input provided by the partners and community members present at SSISC’s Annual Planning Session, which takes place in April each year. This decision-making process involves discussions about:

  • species priorities
  • species-specific control methods
  • containment lines, and
  • geographic priority areas.

This year, the Annual Planning Session is taking place directly after SSISC’s Annual General Meeting, on April 19th, from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM.

There are many land managers and partners working on invasive species management across various jurisdictions throughout the Sea to Sky Region – we strongly encourage you to attend to connect with others, hear about invasive species projects and programs happening in the region, and share what’s happening in your world. You can find the registration link and the meeting agenda on the AGM page.
