Guess what, Pemberton? We’re getting rid of invasive burdock in your community, and we need your help!
Banish Burdock, our popular volunteer program, usually takes place in Whistler—but this time, we’re bringing the action to Pemberton!
If you’re based in Pemberton and haven’t been able to join us before, now’s your chance to get involved. Every bit of help makes a difference, whether you can stay for the whole event, drop in for part of it, or arrive a little later. We’d love to see you there!

Event Details:
Who: Everyone is invited – families welcome!
When: Monday, September 15th, 5:30 – 7:00 pm
Where: We’ll meet at the Pemberton Secondary School parking lot.
RSVP: Please mark yourself as going on our Facebook event page.
What to expect:
We’ll work together to dig up invasive common burdock. Common burdock has long, carrot-like taproots that extend deep into the ground. Be prepared for hands-on work! The work can be challenging, but nothing beats the satisfaction of pulling those roots out and knowing you’ve made a real impact.
We’ll also have light snacks and refreshments for our volunteers.
No experience? No problem! We’ll teach you everything you need to know. All you need is your energy and a willingness to get a little dirty!
What to bring:
- Water bottle
- Gardening gloves (if you have them – otherwise we have some you can borrow!)
- Weather-appropriate clothing
- We will supply shovels, but feel free to bring your own!
Prizes:
To say thank you to our volunteers, we’ll be giving away some tasty Peaked Pies vouchers and a gift card from Armchair Books. Everyone who joins the event will have a chance to win—so swing by, lend a hand, and you might head home with a little extra treat!
