August 2025 Staffing Updates

Amidst a busy and action-packed summer season, we have many exciting staffing changes to announce!

If you are new to us, hi! We’re the Sea to Sky Invasive Species Council (SSISC), and we’re dedicated to protecting the Sea to Sky region of BC from invasive species. Our work spans two main program areas: an active Education & Outreach Department, and a hard-working Field Team.

Summer is our busiest time of year, with invasive plants thriving and community events happening left and right! Our Field Team has been hard at work, tackling plant removal and monitoring, while our Education & Outreach Team organizes volunteer programs and community outreach events.

What a team!

Earlier this summer, we said a heartfelt goodbye to Mica Anguita, who had spearheaded SSISC since April 2024. Mica is now off to take on new challenges as a Senior Natural Resource Specialist at Squamish Nation. We wish her the best!

What’s old is new?

Along the same lines, we are happy to announce that long-time employees Erin Galloway and Claude-Anne Godbout-Gauthier have stepped up to share the leadership responsibilities at SSISC. They will act as co-Executive Directors, and are excited for this opportunity to innovate on the traditional organizational leadership model.

New opportunities

As a result, Matt Muller will be stepping into the Field Program Manager role, and Sara Tobias will be working her way towards the Education & Outreach Manager position. Both will be gradually onboarding, and will be tackling the full extent of their new responsibilities in the off-season.

Congratulations and best of luck to everyone!
