Pique Newsmagazine recently wrote about Whistler’s Worst Weeds, the information campaign that SSISC runs to educate Whistlerites about 5 high-stakes weeds to be eradicated.

These five have the potential for causing significant damage to infrastructure, waterways, and animal and human health. “We’re trying to prevent them from becoming a big problem,” said Executive Director Clare Greenberg. “Our goal for the species is to eradicate them from Whistler—on all jurisdictions.”

In no particular order, the five worst offenders are Scotch Broom, Yellow Flag Iris, Himalayan Blackberry, Japanese Knotweed, and Purple Loosestrife.

You can find out more about each species by reading the article, or on our blog.
