Thanks to the generous support of the Squamish Community Foundation, SSISC was able to successfully run a European Green Crab Early Detection and Monitoring Program in Howe Sound during the 2022 season.
In collaboration with Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO), our 12 Crab Team volunteers monitored 4 pre-determined sites in Howe Sound, from May to September.
We’re pleased that in our second year of monitoring, in 2022, we found no evidence of European Green Crab in Howe Sound.
We were thrilled with the support that we received from the Squamish Community Foundation, and we hope to continue to collaborate in years to come.
