As invasive species become a greater problem in Sea to Sky communities, people naturally become more aware of the problem, but also more interested in how it is being addressed through government policy and regional or local invasive species organizations. As we see increased levels of engagement on social media, we’d like to share some key points about the SSISC Communications Policy.
Most importantly, we are always open to feedback and input about mandated work programs from community members, stakeholders, funders and partners. However, while we use social media channels to provide information on invasive species and promote educational resources, we do not participate in public discussions on social media community forums.
If you’d like information or clarification on a specific topic, please contact us directly via our website, or by calling our office (604-698-8334). Although we are happy to field questions, at all times we expect communication with our staff and representatives to be civil and respectful. We do not tolerate harassment, abuse or defamatory, offensive and disparaging language. Whether such instances occur verbally or in writing, we will take appropriate actions where it contravenes social media policy or civil law.
The SSISC hosts an annual public meeting each spring that funders, stakeholders, and community members are encouraged to attend, and provide feedback on plans for the upcoming field season. For notice of meetings and other opportunities to participate in the SSISC planning process, sign up for our newsletter here.

In addition, we work with land managers to develop workplans, site lists, treatment and notification plans for each jurisdiction in which we work. For information on planned work in a specific jurisdiction, please contact us for a referral to the appropriate land manager.
The SSISC greatly appreciates the support of the communities we work in, and are always happy to answer respectful questions through the appropriate channels.
