‘Feral swine cost BILLIONS of dollars each year in damages and control costs. The species damages native ecosystems, prey on and compete with native wildlife, and spread diseases.’ – Squeal on Pigs Campaign
Did you know that feral pigs are considered invasive in Canada? Left unchecked, they could severely damage our agriculture, natural resources, and property, and jeopardize the health of animals and humans alike. In other words, they’re bad news!
Feral pig sightings have been reported as close as Vancouver Island and Washington State. Luckily, they have not been reported in the Sea to Sky region yet (and we’d like to keep it that way!).

Squeal on pigs!
Launched in 2021, Canada’s Invasive Wild Pig Strategy outlines how we can prevent the spread of feral pigs. It’s simple!
- Step 1: Learn to spot a feral pig. Check out our feral pig page.
- Step 2: Squeal on pigs! Report any sightings. You can do so on our reporting page or on the Squeal on Pigs reporting form.
