SSISC’s very own Micaela Anguita was recently featured in a Naturespeak article in Pique Newsmagazine. The article dug deeper into what makes some plants, like burdock, invasive, as well as their impacts.
She pointed out that burdock has taken over much of Whistler, and it is particularly abundant along the edges of the Valley Trail. This extremely well traveled trail system has become a transport corridor for the plant to spread into previously burdock-free areas. So what can the Whistler community do to help stop its spread? This is where the Adopt-A-Trail campaign comes in! It is not too late to sign up and commit to keeping a short section of the Valley Trail burdock-free for the summer season. Find out more here.
