Invasive plants and SSISC made big news this past month. This summer’s British Columbia Magazine quarterly, BC’s go-to magazine for everything geographic and travel-related since 1959, dedicated a whole feature article to the rise of invasive plants in BC, and what is being done about it.
The author, Leslie Anthony, provides background on BC’s worst weeds, their arrival, and what is being done on the ground to minimize their impact and spread. The article cleverly conveys the urgency and importance of tackling invasive species, while also highlighting the good news stories that make the reader feel empowered. As SSISC Executive Director Clare Greenberg put it in the article, “You can’t just do nothing!”
