On Earth Day, the Squamish Chief published an article about an invasive species control and habitat restoration initiative spearheaded by Ecole Les Aiglons teacher Carrie Antonniazzi.
Ms. Antoniazzi first contacted SSISC in September 2021 as she wished to hold an invasive plant removal activity with one of her classes. She later applied for and received a $1,000 grant from the World Wildlife Foundation Canada Go Wild program.
On top of the invasive plant removal activities she is continue to organize, Ms. Antoniazzi is also working with her various classes on making seed bombs, as well as replanting native species on the school property, in collaboration with the Squamish River Watershed Society.
You can read the Squamish Chief’s account of this inspiring initiative on their website.
