I Spy in the Sea to Sky…

Something that twists and twines

Something that grows like a vine

Something with flowers that are pink

Something that will take over in a blink!

This invader is a tricky one… did you guess right? Flat Pea climbs using vine-like tendrils and is able to form dense mats over native plants, blocking them from the sunlight and making it difficult for them to grow. It is currently blooming in the Sea to Sky, and its flowers are a bright pink, which will turn into pea-like pods when it goes to seed later in the season

Flat pea is found in multiple locations in Whistler and Squamish, but it has yet to be spotted in Pemberton. If you spy this invader, please report it by contacting SSISC, or call 604-698-8334
